Michael AmbrosFounder & CEO
As the Founder and CEO of eKomi Holding GmbH, Michael Ambros is an ambitious, strategic entrepreneurial business pioneer and strong leader. An always forward-thinker and visionary, during Ambros‘ studies in International Business in Regensburg, Germany and in La Rochelle, France, he began working on SEO.
In 2005, Ambros, together with close friend and business colleague Gunther Schmidt, founded his first start-up company, SMS Lotse, which became one of the most far-reaching and successful telecommunications portals in Germany. In 2007, Ambros was employed as an online marketing specialist at the European Founders Fund GmbH, where he was responsible for various portfolio companies.
In early 2008, Ambros launched his second company, Medici Internet AG, an agency specializing in performance and affiliate marketing. To date, Ambros currently serves on the Board of Directors at Medici Internet AG. Just six months later, in the summer of 2008, Ambros founded eKomi, Europe’s premiere and largest independent provider of transaction-based reviews and ratings. Ambros’ vast list of specialties include product reviews, product ratings, shop ratings, seller ratings, customer feedback, social recommendations, SEM, SEO, and more. Ambros is considered a proven social commerce expert and is a frequent speaker at events on this topic. Ambros holds international awards in innovation by CeBIT, The Fraunhofer Institute and SME Initiative.
He’s an active member of both the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and Young Entrepreneur Council and spends his time internationally between eKomi’s hub city offices where he spearheads global expansion, strategy, operations, and management of all eKomi’s enterprises.
Gunther SchmidtCo-Founder & Managing Director
Innovative, seasoned, serial entrepreneur and start-up executive Gunther Schmidt is co- founder and Managing Director of eKomi where he is responsible for growing strategic partnerships and developing new revenue channels for the company. Schmidt has been pivotal in bringing eKomi to the international leader in social commerce technologies that it is today. Coming from a vast internet marketing background involving organic search engine optimization, e-Commerce, conversion rate analysis, statistical analysis, and affiliate marketing, eKomi relies on Schmidt’s wealth of experience and ingenuity. Schmidt began his career working in banking where he simultaneously launched his entrepreneurial pursuits in SEO and internet marketing.
Prior to founding eKomi together with Michael Ambros, the entrepreneur duo used their masterful knowledge of SEO to build their first start-up company SMS Lotse in 2005. In 2007, Schmidt formed GoMobile Media GmbH and following in early 2008, Ambros and Schmidt brought their second joint venture to life, Medici Internet AG, where he is still acting as MD.
In 2012, Schmidt ventured into the real estate industry and launched Medici Living where he is currently also building up the global rollout of the business as CEO. As an acknowledged reputable online marketing authority, Schmidt’s expertise is frequently sought after and he is a regular spokesperson on matters in this arena. Schmidt is also an active member of his professional community through membership roles in Mensa International and the Global Entrepreneurs’ Organization.
